Saturday, Nov. 16, let’s get vaccinated for World Diabetes Day

On Saturday, November 16, to mark World Diabetes Day (WDM) 2019, a day of free vaccinations for children, adults and pregnant women with diabetes, their family members and close contacts will be held at the Family Counseling Center of the Viterbo Citadel of Health from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m.

World Diabetes Day was established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to the growing health challenge posed by diabetes. The event is held every year on Nov. 14, coinciding with the birth date of Frederick Banting (the coscopriter of insulin with Charles Best in 1922).

Every year, on the occasion of Gmd, scientific societies of diabetes, pediatric and adult, and associations of people with diabetes organize events aimed at raising awareness among institutions and the public. Citizens who join our professionals at the desk located in the atrium of the Citadel of Health will also be able to undergo at the Consultatory the vaccination that will be free of charge for all people with diabetes, both pediatric and adult, for their family members and close contacts (e.g., caregivers) and for pregnant women from the first trimester. In order to be eligible for the free vaccination, it will be necessary to present a document proving entitlement (such as a disease exemption or a request from the attending physician).”.
