Stress the enemy of the third millennium
Stress, the enemy of the third millennium
Lo stress is the enemy of the third millennium, yeah, because there are too many things to do and too little time, and the ones who suffer most are workers who are overburdened with things to do. Stress is in fact the psychophysical response to a quantity of emotional, cognitive or social tasks perceived by the person as excessive. Very useful are relaxing herbal teas to be taken at night perhaps before going to bed.
Types of stress
It can be of the type acute, if it occurs only once and in a limited time or chronic, that is, when it is of long duration.
Chronic stress can itself be intermittent o proper: the former occurs at regular intervals, is predictable and has a limited duration while the latter lasts for a long time, even throughout a person’s life.
But stress does not only affect workers but also those who:
- Experienced an unpleasant (a bereavement) or pleasant event (marriage, birth of a child, retirement);
- makes use of alcohol, abuses smoking;
- suffers too much from heat or cold;
- has an organic disease (in this case the body defends itself by triggering stress).
I symptoms of stress can be more or less severe:
- headaches
- back pain
- neck and shoulder tension
- stomach pain
- tachycardia
- hand sweating
- agitation and restlessness
- sleep problems
- fatigue
- dizziness
- weight loss
While these are symptoms that can sometimes be confused with other conditions as well, there are some symptoms that leave no doubt.
They are called behavioral symptoms and lead to:
- grinding of the teeth
- show overbearingness
- making use of alcohol
- compulsive eating
- criticize others
- having difficulty getting things done
Stress sufferers also often cry, feel pressured, experience anger, anxiety and nervousness, isolate themselves and are unhappy even for no reason.
To treat stress, it is advisable to undergo psychotherapy treatments that enable the person suffering from stress to manage anxiety and modify his or her behaviors.
